Open Educational Resources (OER): Teaching and learning tools (including course modules, textbooks, podcasts, online courses, journals) that are freely licensed for reuse and remixing. They are often developed collaboratively on the Internet, on sites like Connexions and WikiEducator.
Open Educational Practices (OEP): Practices that introduce students to online peer production communities. Sites like Wikipedia, YouTube, and Open Street Map host dynamic communities and offer rich learning environments.
Free or "copyleft" licenses: Legal documents that explicitly invite others to republish resources, and usually explicitly permitting modification, and improvement, and "remixing."
